Supporting healthy oceans, sustainable fishing and strong coastal communities on Cape Cod.
On March 26 I barely jogged (mostly walked) 2 miles for the first time in almost 8 years. I almost passed out and coughed the rest of the night. Two weeks later I completed my first 5K. Less than 2 months from my first run, I ran my first 10K!
Today I signed up for my first official road race! This will be the farthest I will have ever run in my life and I hope this race to be my next stop to eventually running a marathon next year.
I cannot think of a better way to accomplish this than by running and raising money for my favorite nonprofit. As a fourth generation commercial fisherman from Alaska, the Cape Cod Commercial Fisherman's Alliance's mission is one that is near and dear to my heart. They do so much for fishermen and fishing families.
Every dollar counts and is more than appreciated by me and the Fishermen's Alliance.
Description
The Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen's Alliance engages the local fishing community in building lasting solutions to protect the ocean ecosystem and the future of Cape Cod's small-boat fishing fleet.
Founded in 1991 by the local fishing fleet, the Fishermen's Alliance is now a nationally-recognized nonprofit organization and the leading voice for commercial fishermen on Cape Cod.
A healthy marine environment and good fisheries management are essential to the success of Cape Cod's fishing economy. The Fishermen's Alliance is taking action now to make sure there will be future generations of fish and fishermen.
