My Story…
Losing your mom is never easy, but it is especially hard when you are young. Even though it’s been 17 years since my mom passed away, some Mother’s Days are still hard. This past year, I came across empowerHER’s Luminaria project, and my sore heart softened. I read more about empowerHER's work and was immediately drawn in by their peer support model and mentor program which matches girls and young women with positive role models from the community to help remind them they are not alone in their grief and that loss is survivable. I’m a huge believer in the power of mentoring, especially for young women, and was inspired to join the Falmouth Road Race team to support empowerHER’s important work. As I train for the race, I’ll be holding close to my heart all of those who have lost their moms too soon. I really appreciate your support and hope you’ll learn more about this organization.
