My Story…
Hi, I’m Johanna and I’m a rising Junior at Tabor Academy in Marion!
I’ve been a part of EmpowerHer since 2018 when my mother passed away from brain cancer, and through EmpowerHer I’ve meet amazing girls who have also gone through the unfortunate event of our mothers passing away. EmpowerHer has also connected me to my mentor, Angela who also lost her mom and we have connected through the lost of our mothers, but through that we’ve made amazing memories!! EmpowerHer is truly an amazing organization so every penny counts!! I am so proud to be supporting them in this race along with my dad on August 15!

empowerHER® was formed in 2013 with a very specific mission—to empower, support and connect girls and young women up to age 24 who have experienced the loss of their mothers. empowerHER® is a supportive and inclusive community that offers year-round EVENTS for GIRLS that provides peer support and reminds girls they are not alone in their grief. Our MENTOR PROGRAM matches girls and young women with positive role models from the community to show “loss is survivable.”
