My Story…
I am proud to once again be joining Team “Run Like a Girl Scout” this August at the Falmouth Road Race as we run in support of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts.
In Massachusetts, 16% of girls live in poverty. Girls who grow up in under-resourced communities face considerable challenges that affect their health, happiness and achievement. GSEMA is committed to ensuring that every girl in MA, regardless of background or circumstance, has the chance to make her own choices, explore her interests and take healthy risks. As a GSEMA Board Member, I am committed to ensuring that Girl Scouts remains strong and vibrant, and that all girls have access to its amazing girl-centric programming.
By supporting my efforts, you will be fueling the next generation of courageous and confident female leaders of character who will make the world a better place.
Your donation will make a difference. Thank you.
Description
Building strength and confidence in girls is the cornerstone of Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts’ (GSEMA) mission. Girl Scouts allows girls the opportunity to take risks in a safe and supportive environment, challenging them to try new things and build their confidence. Armed with this assurance, girls go on to do great things: leading peers and others, innovating and forging new paths, and thinking outside the box to benefit their families, communities, and beyond. GSEMA membership is 41,000 strong, with girls and adults in 178 communities in eastern Massachusetts.
Girls gain valuable skills in the four pillars of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience: Life Skills, STEM, Entrepreneurship, and the Outdoors. The Girl Scout programming is a collection of engaging, challenging, and fun age-appropriate activities including earning badges, selling cookies, exploring science and the outdoors, and implementing community service projects. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a collection of engaging, challenging, and fun age-appropriate activities including earning badges, selling cookies, exploring science and the outdoors, and implementing community service projects.
For over 100 years, Girl Scouts has delivered diverse leadership programming to develop the next generation of strong female leaders with self-confidence and positive values who seek out challenges, maintain healthy relationships, and are committed to improving their communities and beyond. There are currently over 50 million Girl Scout alums; 60% of female members of the 117th Congress are alums, virtually every female astronaut who has ever flown in space is a Girl Scout alum, and every female secretary of state in U.S. history is a former Girl Scout- Madeleine Albright, Condoleezza Rice, and Hillary Clinton.
