My Story…
HI Everyone,
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page! I am super excited to do something I love: to run, to raise money for a cause I feel passionately about: substance use disorder treatment and prevention.
As you all know, addiction did not take a break for the pandemic. In fact, substance use and overdoses have been rising with unemployment and the isolation that the pandemic brought, while the pandemic increased barriers to treatment and created unprecedented demand for scarce mental health resources. And - as is too often the case- the suffering was felt more in communities of color, with black males in Massachusetts experiencing a 69% increase in overdose deaths during the pandemic.
I am incredibly proud to work at Boston Medical Center with fantastic clinicians and staff who make a real difference against the powerful disease of addiction every day. Our staff meet people where they are, to treat people without judgment, with medication when desired and with the social and mental health supports necessary to keep people healthy.
I hope you will join me in making a donation to support these life-saving services at Boston Medical Center, and by doing so also fight the stigma that often stands in the way of treatment.
Thank you!
