Swim Across America Nantucketis an incredible organization which raises monies to support both cancer treatments at Nantucket Cottage Hospital and Palliative and Supportive Care of Nantucket (PASCON). Through the fundraising efforts of hundreds of swimmers and now RUNNERS! Nantucket residents and visitors alike can receive outstanding world-class cancer treatment and patient support on the island.
The increase in care over the past five years highlights the need to support this organization. The number of cancer treatments and visits at Nantucket Cottage Hospital increased from 394 in 2017 to 1,444 in 2020! Locally provided treatments through a partnership with Mass General Hospital Cancer Center include chemotherapy, transfusions, port placement and central line care, immunotherapy, bloodwork, cold capping, cancer support groups, oncology social work and cancer support groups and counseling.
All proceeds raised through Swim Across America Nantucket stay on Nantucket. This is the second year that SAA Nantucket is participating in the Asics Falmouth Road Race through the Numbers for Non-Profits and we couldn't be more excited.
