MISSISSIPPI RIVER MARATHON – 2021 COVID PROTOCOLS
For our February 6th, 2021 event for following Covid-19 protocols may be adopted to ensure the safety of our participants.
Packet Pick-Up p/b Planters Bank – Friday February 5th: We will have the option of either picking up your packet inside the Leyser Gallery or pulling up to the curb in front of the Leyser Gallery and having one of our board members go inside and retrieve it for you. We will ask that a mask be worn at all times in the gallery and you observe the recommended six feet social distancing. As always, we allow one person to pick up multiple packets, but please have a photocopy or screenshot of their driver’s license for verification. We will not have the typical vendors inside but will be able to answer any questions you may have about the weekend at our information booth. Our board members helping the drive-up packet pick-up should also be able to answer any questions you may have. Your packet will include a facemask and hand sanitizer for you to use during the weekend.
Bus Loading and Transportation – Saturday, February 6th: A major draw to our race is being able to start in Arkansas run over the Mississippi River Bridge and finish in the state of Mississippi. That obviously only happens if we shuttle you to Arkansas on busses. You will be required by the bus company and us to wear a mask during the shuttle ride. We will provide hand sanitizers and masks if you do not have one. You WILL NOT be allowed to ride the shuttle without a mask and we will politely ask you to wear one if you are in the line for the toilets at the start line. Other than that please mind your distancing from one another, there will be plenty of room to spread out at the start line. We will unfortunately not have the bonfires at the marathon start line as not to encourage congregation.
Water Stops – Saturday February 6th: We will have, as usual, restrooms at every rest stop (23 total in the marathon). We fully hope to have manned water stations at each rest stop. This will depend on our ability to find volunteers to man these water stops. It has been our understanding that volunteers are slightly harder to find these days, but as you know our volunteers are top notch and dedicated. Worst case scenario, we will provide supervised dispensers for water which you will refill your own water bottle and we will also provide empty cups if you are running without hydration bottles.
Post-race Party p/b Guaranty Bank – Saturday February 6th: We still intend on having our hot Domino’s pizza and delicious Shipley donuts, but they will be in a grab and go packaging instead of our usual pile it high buffet style. In the past we have sometimes had massage therapists to stretch you post-race, but that will not be available this year.
Awards – Saturday, February 6th: We will still have the grab and go awards table, but instead of using the kiosk to check your results Start 2 Finish we be texting you your results as you finish. Simply show your results and placement to our volunteer at the awards table and they will hand you your hard earned hardware. Awards not picked up day of will incur a $10.00 shipping fee if you would like it mailed to you.
