Well you guys... I did it! Yesterday I completed the marathon portion of the Royal Flush Series. I had a crowd of in-person support as well as an outpour of love and support virtually. I can't thank you all enough. During the run, a gentleman who was out for a birthday walk noticed the cheering and wanted to know what the event was for, then he donated $20 to the fundraiser! Thank you kind stranger!
My first marathon was a memorable one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. My future race plans include October 3, 2021 - Run for the Cure - and then October 10, 2021 - Royal Victoria Half Marathon - to close out the Royal Flush Virtual Series. Until then, here are 4/5 of the results from this series!

Just 13 days (AH!) until I run my first ever full Marathon. This training has taught me the value of dedication, determination, and effort to achieve whatever you set your mind to.
The donations pledged by my friends and family for Need2 Suicide Prevention Education & Support is above and beyond what I first set my goal to ($500). I am so grateful to be encouraged by such incredible individuals.

I am now 6 weeks from my Marathon day (August 22). Since May 1, I have run just over 350kms and have raised $1550 for Need2 Suicide Prevention and Support. I'm truly grateful to all of you who have helped support me to this stage. You all are what keep me going <3 I intend on racing my 5k and 10k soon and will share the results as they are completed. I have signed up to complete my half marathon in October, at the in-person race downtown Victoria.

The Marathon training has me out running 4 days a week, along with other fitness activities and walks on off days. I have been seeing new places and taking in a lot of beautiful scenery. Having a running schedule gives me a routine that helps me stay on track, as well as stay focused. I always end my Sunday long run feeling strong, accomplished, and ready to relax for the rest of the day (or grocery shop/sunday things). I'm proud to say I ran my furthest run to date this past Sunday. In 2019 I completed my first half marathon and have not ran past that distance (21.1km) since. It felt reassuring to complete that run and not feel like collapsing, and I'm excited to keep building up the kms.

I am blown away by the donations so far and have decided to take it to the next level. In 11 days, my initial goal of raising $1000 was surpassed! I plan on running my marathon August 22, 2021. With 103 days until then, and many many many kilometres of running, I feel ambitious yet confident on increasing my goal. I once again would like to thank all my donors so far, I love you all! Please feel free to share this fundraising page with whoever you'd like and please take a minute to familiarize yourself with the services Need2.ca offers. Someone you know may be needing something they can help with.
Stay healthy and happy :)

Hello friends and family! This year I have decided to take the plunge and check off another goal I never intended to set but somehow here I am willingly wanting to run a marathon. If you don't enjoy running, I know you won't get it. But for me running is a pastime I enjoy, and what better way to encourage my mental health with running than simultaneously raising funds for an important charity - NEED2 Suicide Prevention & Support. I appreciate your support, whether by supporting my fundraising cause or cheering me on from the sidelines.
This is a virtual event that runs from May - October 2021. The series includes a 1 mile, 5k, 10k, half marathon and marathon. Join me on my running journey for the next few months as I complete each race in locations close to home.
