Since the early days of Reclaim Childhood's inception back in 2008, the RC team has competed in the Amman Road Runners' Dead2Red relay race from the lowest point on Earth (the Dead Sea) to the city of Aqaba on the shores of the Red Sea. Each year, RC has pulled together several teams to compete in the fierce competition to raise funds to make RC's programming in and around Jordan possible. This yearly event has not only become a favorite adventure among Reclaim Childhood's supporters, but has become one of the organization's most important fundraisers to make RC sustainable.
With the cancellation of the live event in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID, we opted to create a virtual version of the race that not only allows a much bigger group of RC supporters to take part, but also allows individuals to partake in the location and at the speed of their choosing. You can compete on a team, on your own or as part of both. You can run, you can walk, you can skip. You can do your miles around your block, on your local trails, or on the treadmill at your gym.
With your one registration, you get to enter the Dead2Red competition both on behalf of a team as well as in the solo division.
DEAD2RED TEAM DIVISION
When you register, you can select a team with whom you would like to compete. Your team captain will coordinate with your team members on how you will run your relay and compete with the other teams to see who can make the journey from the Dead Sea to the Red Sea the fastest!
DEAD2RED SOLO COMPETITION
Even if you opt to sign up on a team, you also get a free and automatic entry into the solo division. Unlike in the live Dead2Red race, however, you do not have to complete your 150+ mile race all in one go. The virtual Dead2Red race will be open from April 24th to May 31st of 2021 so that you can work your way down along the route day by day over the course of the 5 weeks. And unlike the live race, you can go any pace or any place that works for you.
