We cordially invite you to participate in The Fibroid Pandemic’s Inaugural Run F.A.R. 5k Run/Walk at Still Family Farm in Powder Springs, Georgia on July 24, 2021. We will kick off the event at 7:45 am with this gentle unpaved course, with our award ceremony following after our last participant crosses the finish line.
The Run F.A.R. 5K was created by The Fibroid Pandemic to help women make informed decisions as they embark on their journey to healing uterine fibroids.
Your support of our event will help raise funds to educate women on the available resources to overcome uterine fibroids. All profits from this event will go to Pad the Pandemic, a non-profit organization developed with the vision to help eliminate period poverty. What is “period poverty”? This is when menstruating women do not have access to safe, hygienic sanitary products. It is a global pandemic that goes unrecognized and is not openly discussed. Pad the Pandemic aspires to invoke change. Not only through education, but by being on the ground in communities to meet this need in a safe way. We are doing this by providing organic chemical free sanitary products. Without chemical free products, women are at greater risk of developing uterine fibroids, non-cancerous tumors of the uterus. Approximately 70% of women in their baby-bearing age will develop fibroids within their lifetime. Of this population, 80% are disproportionately black women. Black women are 3 times more likely to develop fibroids and often have fibroids earlier in life than women of other ethnicities. Fibroids can result in menorrhagia, anemia (oftentimes requiring blood transfusions), pica, hair loss, high blood pressure, reproductive issues (i.e.: infertility, miscarriage, etc.), brain fog, incontinence, extreme lethargy, and more.
