Help Adriane raise money

For participating in Headache on the Hill Walk/Run/Relax

My Story…

My name is Adriane Dellorco and I have been living with migraine since 2007.

I’ve tried over two dozen pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatments to manage my migraine symptoms.

I am one of the rare and lucky people who has recovered from chronic migraine, when I used to get a debilitating migraine attack every other day and depression as a result.

This recovery didn’t happen without countless lifestyle changes that I continue to make on a daily basis.

Migraine affects nearly everything I do in big and little ways.  From what kind of shampoo I use (unscented), to how often I eat and how much water I drink, to what I wear when I go outside or even if I can go outside, nearly every activity is carefully managed to avoid a migraine attack.

Migraine has forced me to make tough decisions about my personal and professional life.  Migraine pushed me out of a decade-long career as a school teacher.  I nearly didn’t have a second child because I didn’t know how I could get through each day without migraine meds that are contraindicated in pregnancy.

Gratefully, I found a non-pharmaceutical neuro-modulation device called Cefaly that allowed me to cut back my migraine attacks by half and make it through pregnancy without pharmaceuticals.  More pregnancy-safe treatments like this need research and funding.

Today, I run my own business teaching Yoga for Migraine. This ideal career allows me to support the migraine community while also allowing me to enjoy a migraine-friendly career that I love and can sustain with my disease.

More funding for research on chronic headache disorders is essential to provide better migraine treatment for women like myself.  Better migraine treatment would allow women (who are three times more likely to develop migraine as men) to have more options to grow their families if they wish, work fulfilling careers and contribute to society to their fullest potential.
