When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness or suffers a significant injury, families’ lives are turned upside down.  Focus shifts from work, school and everyday activities to receiving the very best medical treatment available for their child. 

With more than 65% of Ontario caregivers living outside of a city that hosts a specialized pediatric hospital, thousands of families need to travel to receive the life-saving medical treatment their children require.  This is where Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario (RMHC-SWO) steps in to help.  

RMHC-SWO provides welcoming and secure home-away-from-homes for families at Windsor Regional Hospital or London’s Children’s Hospital. These spaces provide a cozy place to sleep and recharge, access to nutritious home cooked meals, laundry, hot showers and a supportive shoulder from staff members 24 hours a day.   

Your support of the Big Red Shoe Run helps to ensure families can stay for as long as their child requires medical care for a small contribution of $12.00 a night.  We are here to provide a soft landing for all families needing our support.  No family is ever turned away due to an inability to pay.
