a children’s treatment centre

a research institute

a rehabilitation service

a pediatric palliative care hospice

a school health provider

Clinics, Services and Programs

Whether a child you love – or you yourself as an adolescent – face illness, developmental issues or other health challenges, we’re here for you. Our goal is to deploy all of these services to help you and your family.

CHEO is a founding member of Kids Health Alliance, a network of partners working to create a high quality, standardized and coordinated approach to pediatric health care in Ontario that is centred around children, youth and their families.

Beyond Ottawa

CHEO has satellite services located throughout Eastern Ontario.

We partner with organizations in Nunavut, Northern Ontario and western Quebec, as well as throughout Eastern Ontario.

We host a number of provincial and federal programs:

Better Outcomes Registry & Network Ontario

Newborn Screening Ontario

Ontario Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health

National Newcomer Navigation Network

Some basics

Founded in 1974, CHEO’s principal funders are the people of Ontario through their provincial government’s ministries of Health, Children, Community and Social Services, and Education. Our services are also made possible by funding from the governments of Quebec, Nunavut and the City of Ottawa — as well as by generous donors in the community.

We are:

3,200 doctors, nurses, other specialized health professionals and staff

250 researchers

700 volunteers

2,300 trainees in medicine, nursing and other health professions

Every year, we have more than:

6,700 admissions

7,700 surgeries

75,000 visits to the Emergency Department

180,000 visits to our outpatient clinics

Our reach

Every year, we help more than:

500,000 children and youth from Eastern Ontario, western Quebec, Nunavut and Northern Ontario.
