Our Cause

Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little known and poorly understood cause of a heart attack. Most patients are young, healthy and active women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease. Although less common, it can affect men too. SCAD can recur and can be fatal. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.

SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women & new moms.

SCADaddle

Our timed 5K run/walk takes place on the east side of Crown Point Park in San Diego on Mission Bay. Enjoy the course along the bay on the bay side walkway.

Awards will be given to overall winner male and female. Medals/recognition will be given to 2nd and 3rd place males/females overall and to the top three males/females for age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80 and older.

We cannot accept walk in registrations on Oct. 9 due to park district regulations. Registration will be taken at early packet pick-up (TBA).

Join us for an informal Meet & Greet starting at 6:30pm in the lounge area at the Courtyard by Marriott, Liberty Station. There will be a cash bar. Watch for more details.

Race Details

Chip Timing: We use a disposable chip timing tag that participants receive at packet pick up on their race bibs. It is lightweight and remains attached to the race bib. Runners/walkers must wear their race bibs on the front of their clothing in order to be timed accurately. Please do not layer over the bib.

Runners/walkers MUST wear their race bibs on the front of their clothing in order to be timed accurately. The bib cannot be covered, holding it in your hand or putting it in your pocket will NOT read the chip. Do not bend the chip. Smart watches such as Garmin and smart phones can interfere with the timing chip frequency. Please do not adjust your watch or phone as you cross the finish line and come through the chute. Disputes for times on Smart watches and smart phones will not be taken into consideration.

Early Packet Pick-Up for Runners AND Walkers: TBA. Packet pick-up is also available at the 5K starting at 7:30am.

We cannot accept walk-in registration on Race Day due to Park District requirements. Registrations will be accepted at Early Packet Pick-Up

Overnight Accommodations

A block of hotel rooms has been set aside at the Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Airport, Liberty Station. The cost is $179.00 per night plus tax and Parking Fee $10 (normally $19). The hotel will reimburse those who take a cab, UBER or LYFT to the hotel from the airport with a receipt.

The Courtyard is along the water, near SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo, Stone Brewery, downtown and the 5K location. Restaurants and shops are within walking distance, including the popular Liberty Public Market. The hotel is adjacent to a beautiful 46-acre park and has a vast array of activities.
