My Story…
I've always wanted to cycle Vancouver Island and while I know I'm not able to cycle the whole thing (yet) I have been dreaming about a ride from Victoria to the Comox Valley. It's over 200 km, further than I've ever ridden in one shot. It's going to be hard but not even half as hard as what YANA families go through.
What am I committing to? Cycling approximately 215 km, Victoria to Cumberland on Tuesday, August 3 (and possibly August 4 if I need an extra day)
Can I do it? I don't know.
Have I ever cycled that far before? No
Is it too hard? Maybe.
Am I going to try? Yes.
Why? Because every dollar raised helps support a Comox Valley family needing to tavel for medical treatment for a child or pregnant mother. YANA supports between 400-500+ medical trips each year, providing an average of $120,000+ in annual accommodation and travel funding to local families. Your donation allows YANA to help families when they need it most.
How can you help? There are two ways to help.
1. I'll be posting on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter on August 3 (as well as some training rides leading up to the big ride day) and I would love it if you would follow and comment and remind me to keep going when my legs want to give up after the first 20 km. I can't tell you how much that support means.
2. If I reach my $2000 fundraising goal every kilometre I ride will = $10 for YANA. I would be so thankful for any and all support! Whether you can give $10, $20, $50 or $100, your support means you're with me on every kilometre (and I feel that love). And more than that it means that together we are with every YANA family needing our support - being a part of helping families makes every kilometre so worthwhile.

$50 = 1 night stay at a YANA apartment in Vancouver near BC Children’s Hospital
$100 = 1 night stay near Nanaimo Hospital
$200 = YANA envelope of cash for family’s emergency hospital transfer
$400 = 2 weeks stay at Jeneece Place in Victoria
$1000 = 1 month travel expense funding for a family away from home
