FAQ
1) When and where does the run take place?
Participants can walk any distance, from blocks to kilometres, and can walk on any day in October. On Saturday October 16th at 10:00a.m., we will host Walktoberfest, a fun, family-friendly mid-month virtual event for all participants. Length: 7-10 minutes. www.walktoberfest.ca #Walktoberfest
2) How do I participate?
Walk, run or cycle, it’s up to you! You can challenge yourself to reach a specific goal or dedicate more time to staying active during the month of Walktober.
3) Is there a fee to sign up?
No. While there will be a registration fee beginning in 2022, the inaugural year is FREE to register; all 2021 registration costs are generously covered by our friends at INSURGENCY.
4) Can I fundraise on my own or do I need to be a part of a team?
You can do either. Fundraise on your own or ask friends and family to join your team and fundraise together. There are terrific prizes for fundraising.
5) Is fundraising mandatory?
Walktober is about raising awareness of the barriers facing elder men impacted by poverty, homelessness and isolation. Fundraising is not mandatory. Any funds that are raised will support programs at Haven Toronto. www.haventoronto.ca
6) Are donations tax-receiptable?
Yes all donors will receive a charitable tax receipt for their donation.
7) What will my donation go towards?
All donations will support Haven Toronto’s healthy meals, housing and health care programs.
8) Can the top team fundraising prize be divided up amongst the team?
Yes. The prize can be one (1) gift card valued at $400 or gift cards of smaller denominations totaling $400 for individual use.
