Help us raise money

September 28th was a typical Sunday for me and Matt. We headed to the grocery store in the morning and I went in to work for a bit to get ahead of things before maternity leave. We had just had our baby shower for Carsen the weekend before, so we were getting close to having everything ready for baby. When I got home, I realized I hadn't felt movement for a while. I called my doctor and laid on my side after drinking some orange juice to try to wake baby up. Nothing was working so we headed in to the hospital at my OB's request. There in the triage room at the hospital, they could not find a heartbeat. Carsen was gone. I was 34 weeks and 4 days gestation. We were in shock and devastated. There was no indication throughout any of my pregnancy that something was wrong. 

We called family to let them know and they began to travel to us to be there for support. I was induced and gave birth to a beautiful, perfect baby on Monday September 29th, 2014. He was 6 pounds and 19 inches long. I will never forget that day. We got to hold and cuddle him for some time and a NILMDTS volunteer graciously came to take pictures of our sweet boy. We will be forever grateful.

We had testing done, including an autopsy, and nothing was ever found explaining why Carsen passed away so unexpectedly. Of course, his story changed our lives and we hope that anyone going through a similar tragedy will be able to receive the wonderful gift of photography like we did from NILMDTS. We love this wonderful organization.
