In-person FAQs
What is the cancellation policy?
If Run Calgary cancels the in-person race due to an increase of local COVID-19 cases or on the direction of local or provincial authorities, participants will be informed as soon as possible, and everyone will be automatically registered in the virtual race. This event will not be rescheduled.
Can I receive a refund, or defer my entry to another date?
No refunds can be issued.
If you are displaying COVID-19 symptoms prior to race day or at the race location, you will be allowed to defer your registration. Please email info@runcalgary.com for directions.
How do I create/join a relay team?
Teams consist of 2-4 members. Your team captain will register and create the team, including your team password. To join the team, your team captain will need to share the team name and password with you. To register as a team member, click the join a team registration button on the registration page and follow the instructions. For more info on teams check out THIS info page
Are masks required?
At this time, masks are not mandatory, however participants may choose to wear them. Should The City of Calgary, The Province of Alberta change their messaging around masking at outdoor group events, Run Calgary will require masks. In the case that masks are recommended, masks will be required to be worn in all start and finish areas on site and until you have crossed the start line. Masks would not need to be worn on course while running, but should not be discarded and must be put back on before you exit the finish chute. Masks can be removed after you finish if you are actively eating or drinking.
What post-race amenities will be available?
There will be grab and go amenities at the finish line and we are planning our post race celebration at the zoo.
Where should I park?
Parking is not included with your registration. We advise participant to park at the south Zoo lot on St. Georges Island or in lot/street parking in the East Village. Participants are also encouraged to take the C-train to the Bridgeland train station.
Will there be a bag check?
Yes.
Will there be porta lets?
Yes.
Are strollers permitted?
No, strollers are not allowed at this event.
Can my family/friends watch?
St. Patrick's Island will be open to the public so your friends and family can catch you on the course.
Can I run with my dog/pet?
We love four-legged friends, but they are not permitted at this event. We think the tigers would agree!
What is the start line procedure?
Run Calgary has several plans in place for our 2022 start line, ranging from a socially distanced pulse start to a pre-COVID mass start. We will be looking to Alberta Health Services 14 days leading into the event to establish what the safest start line procedure will be while maintaining event energy.
What are the course amenities and procedures?
We have one aid station on course that is located at the start/finish transition area
What happens at the finish line?
Run Calgary has several plans in place for our 2022 finish line, ranging from a socially distanced flow through to a pre-COVID encouraged dwell finish. We will be looking to Alberta Health Services 14 days leading into the event to establish what the safest finish line procedure will be while maintaining event energy.

How do I create/join a relay team?

How do I race my virtual relay?
When you join a virtual team, you will be asked which leg you will run. This is not an obligatory answer, but will allow your team to use the Virtual Leaderboard and the Runkeeper app. Should a team meber wish to run more than 1 leg, and use the leaderboard, hat runner will need to register again and select another leg. You and your team may choose to run the 2.5mile legs however and whenever you choose. You can race together, apart, or create your own mini relay. The options are endless!
