Help Michel raise money

For participating in 21K de Montreal 2022

My Story…

Dear person,

My name is Mike Wang and I am running for SAM, Suicide Action Montreal. When referring to "health", my dream is that one day it encompasses both mental and physical aspects of it. Because they are part of a whole.

Unfortunately, suicide is a legitimate event that is happening more and more. By all metrics, mental health has deteriorated, even before the pandemic started. Antidepressant sales have skyrocketed...

Opening up about mental health issues has to stop being a taboo subject. It has to change.

& the first step to change is acceptance.

We have to accept that it is a tragedy that has impacted more people than we think. And will impact more people than we think. Because it is oftentimes swept under the rug.

However, we can do something about it, every single one of us. We often talk about having a workout routine. Or follow a good diet. Or stretching our bodies after a long day at work.

But how often do we talk about mental health routines?

Checking up on a friend/family member ; listening to your spouse after a long day at work ; asking your child how his/her day was ; being compassionate towards colleagues ; smiling at waiters/waitresses ; sending a good luck wish to your friend for an exam : these can all be part of a mental health routine.

We do not just go to see a doctor only when we have physical pain.

Yet we only tell people to "see a mental health professional" when they have mental pain.

This has to change, and it starts with you and me ; it starts and ends with people. Cultivating compassion and care for one another. Being there for your loved ones.

Money towards SAM will be beneficial to those who need it the most, and your contribution will be greatly appreciated! I thank you in advance, will forever be grateful for your help to help others.

Have a good day and a even better week! :)
