BTEO provides transitional housing for adults experiencing homelessness in Falmouth during the cold-weather months and supportive services year-round.

People can survive living rough in the summer but it's another thing entirely in the winter. Freezing temperatures, wet weather, snow, mud, no place to get warm. Or cook a meal. Or take a bath or shave or do laundry. Or plug in anything. Or have any privacy.

By providing temporary housing in the 6 coldest weather months, BTEO gives our neighbors experiencing homelessness access to basic amenities. And helps them access vital services year-round.

During our first 7 seasons of operation, 180 individuals in Falmouth who were at risk of dying of exposure during the harsh winter months instead were housed and cared for, and were given an important new start in life.

Our 2021-2022 season has highlighted the growth of homelessness on Cape Cod and in Falmouth. We’ve interviewed more than 85 people experiencing homelessness, provided more than 1700 nights of housing to 22 people, and direct placed another 3 people into stable housing. Our staff assisted 27 people over the warm weather months in accessing services and starting the path of obtaining housing.  nteers have made and delivered more than 325 meal packs in support of Duffy Health’s cold-weather emergency sheltering program in Falmouth for persons at risk from exposure. Our collaborations with other community organizations, including, but not limited to local congregations, housing agencies, the Falmouth Service Center and the Town’s Human Services Department is helping all of us protect our most vulnerable neighbors.
