Our story…

Hello! As most of you know, my mom was diagnosed with late stage ovarian cancer in May of 2020. We are coming up on the two year anniversary of a fight we never wanted to begin… yet here we are fighting together!

Mom has shown me what true courage and perseverance look like… and while there is no better term for the situation other than utter heartbreak, I try my best to see the gifts along the way.  It may not be easy, but to me, my mom’s strength is a gift and legacy that makes every moment in this journey worth it.

There’s a saying, that I won’t screw up by quoting verbatim - about learning who people really are in their darkest moments. I will never view her the same again.

She stood resolute during an excessive amount of chemo, surgery, hospital visits, setbacks, recurrences… still hell bent on fighting. Stubborn I used to call it… and while that may ring a little true, I have learned that what I called stubborn was actually an inability to give up. A hard NO to not continuing to live her life. A refusal to let cancer get the best of her. The determination to still be a great mom, MIL, and Meem during it all. I’m amazed because I’m not sure I’d be able to leave bed.

Mind you, we had moments that weren’t pretty, but I’ll be damned if she didn’t get right back up… determined every day, exhausted or weak, in the hospital or at home, to keep going. As a caregiver I don’t know what more I can give to show my love, my respect, and my admiration for this lady… other than helping support other women and their families. We could not have made it this far without the compassion, support, wisdom, and love of strangers, many of whom we now call friends.

Join me in raising money for an organization that provides unwavering support and resources to those who need it most. Help us save another mom, friend, grandmother, sister, and wife from this horrible disease by increasing awareness and access to resources. If you know my mom at all, I am beyond confident that you love her too. So help my family show her that women are badass, fight like warriors, and have more support than they can imagine!

COCA was the first organization I reached out to, in desperation, when my mom was first diagnosed.. and almost every resource, referral, grant funding for over-priced meds, and  ounce of hope originated from them.

Early detection and prevention are the only way we outsmart this beast! So come on, let’s nail this thing!
