How does the Challenge work?
- Using the voucher code in the event info, sign up to receive your one-month free subscription to FATMAP Explore
- Download the FATMAP app. Use the download link received upon registration and connect your FATMAP account with your tracking device (Suunto, Garmin, Strava - instruction guide HERE) so that your tracks get automatically sent to your FATMAP account
- Head out into the mountains with friends and family
- Log your daily activities using your results from FATMAP, or your best estimates, on Race Roster making your way up to Everest!
- Make sure you edit the title of your adventure in FATMAP with the hashtag #BackcountryChallenge so that we can follow along with your adventure. Click HERE for info on how to edit your adventure
- Keep your fingers crossed that you win one of the great prizes being drawn
- Have FUN!
How do I track my progress?
Record your daily activity with Strava, Garmin, Suunto connected to your FATMAP account. Edit the title of your adventure in FATMAP with the hashtag #BackcountryChallenge so that we can see your vertical meters. Share your photos, activities and Adventures with #BackcountryChallenge.
What is FATMAP?
FATMAP is an outdoor adventure platform that offers high-resolution 3D maps for both web and mobile. FATMAP connects with Strava.
Can I carry a phone with my Beacon?
Cell phones and electronic devices should be kept 20 cm minimum from your beacon for transmitting or 50 cm (or turned off) for receiving.
What is a MIN report?
The Mountain Information Network is a free service for sharing information about riding, avalanche, snowpack, and weather conditions as well as incidents in real time. Posts are not moderated and go live as soon as they are submitted or, if you’re offline, as soon as a connection is obtained. You can post and view information online at avalanche.ca or with the AvCan mobile app on Apple IOS or Android.
