REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
We are excited to announce the launch of the 2022 Walk & Run for rare, presented by MacPherson Builders. Not only will this be the first in-person version of this event in two years, this year we are trying something new: inviting our friends, neighbours, and everyone in our community to rare to celebrate our natural spaces with a Trail Party!
The 2022 Trail Party Walk & Run for rare, presented by MacPherson Builders, is both a fundraising walkathon, and a family-friendly community party. Participants can sign up to walk or run three different routes tailored to all abilities. Bring your friends, family, neighbours and coworkers to cheer you on, and treat them to live music and family fun activities including a Kids Play Zone and an Ice Cream Station. Encourage them out onto the courses where they can discover and learn from interpretive education stations. Enjoy a barbecue lunch and drinks (vegetarian option available).
The walk or fun-run will help protect and conserve land in Waterloo Region and Wellington County. The Walk & Run for rare, presented by MacPherson Builders, supports our Turn the Map Green campaign where every $2 raised protects one square metre of environmentally sensitive land now and into the future.
There are three different routes you can choose from:
- 5km fun run: this route goes past the ECO Centre to a designated turnaround spot, and then back to the ECO Centre for a true 5km run (no chip timing provided).
- 4.5km adventurous walk: this route includes the rare side trails giving you views of the cliffs, Grand River, and osprey nest - not for strollers or dogs.
- 3.5km walk: this route is great for those wanting a route that is accessible to strollers and leashed dogs.
Register to participate before July 22nd to take part in our Early Bird Draw. Registrants receive many benefits, including:
- Free BBQ lunch and drinks
- Free re-useable water bottle (valued at $14.95)
- Free Walk & Run for rare T-Shirt (some conditions apply)
- Free shuttle bus from the end of the route back to the beginning.
- Full access to the Trail Party!
So join up, encourage people to donate to your run, and invite everyone you know to come out to cheer you on and celebrate the natural spaces that protect and enhance the health and wellbeing of the surrounding community. This is a perfect time to get outdoors to enjoy nature with your friends, family, neighbours and coworkers while helping to Turn the Map Green one step at a time.
