If you're doing the whole shebang, sheesh, bloody good job, it's a great ride!
Starting at the Old New South Wales bank, you'll quickly leave Ross on your way to Hokitika. It will be fast as you head onto the old Ross Rail route, this is straight and you can get up some great speed here. You'll cross the Totara Bridge built in 1908 just for this race, shame it's taken 109-years to organise it for yah!
After this straight ride you do have a 2.5km ride beside the State Highway 6 on a new portion of the trail. After you turn on to Woodstock Road you'll have a bit of tar-seal and then into the fantastic Mahinapua Tramline. This will have you thinking you're part of nature, taking you through wetlands and boardwalks and along past the water ways, all the way through to the Golf Course, with another new portion added, getting rid of some more tar-seal. Riders this year will go into Hokitika and as you come off the bridge you go on to the road and around the round about "normal road rules apply here" and then back on to the trail by the railway line. Then along the Kaniere Tramline toward Cowboy Paradise.
Those riders doing it as a Team of 4 will changeover at Hokitika, down by the dairy factory at Livingston Street.
Then the next goal is Cowboy Paradise if you're doing it as an individual or team of 2.
This leg is an easy journey, suitable for cyclists of all ages.
There will be transport to the start at Ross and Hokitika before the event. Leaving Monteith's Brewery Greymouth at 6:00am sharp. This is non refundable or transferrable.
Cut off for all rides to be finished is 4:00pm
