Sports Chek Mother’s Day Run
Course Marshal Guidelines
The role of a Marshal is to make the running event safe and enjoyable for runners!
Be at the Volunteer Check-In tent (East Parking Lot) at CF Chinook Centre at 7:30 am to check-in, followed immediately by a course marshal briefing
Course Marshals must be on the bus at 8:00 am to be dropped off at assigned location (unless it is close enough for you to walk after the briefing)
Duties for Marshal:
Wear your provided safety vest. If required, you will be given a Stop paddle.
NO VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED ON THE COURSE ROUTE AT ANYTIME!
If drivers are wanting to cross an intersection of the course route, have them proceed only when it is safe and clear of runners. Direct them across the course, but do not allow them to turn onto the course!
You may have to man two barricades for traffic. Only allow the vehicles across when you are confident it is safe.
Watch for vehicles driving out of driveways. They can not enter the course route.
Cheer on the runners! This makes it a fun event and enjoyable! Keep them moving!
If there is an issue with a driver, have them contact 3-1-1 to address concerns. Police officers will be located at all major intersections of Macleod Trail between Mission Rd SW and 61 Ave SW
Emergency contact: Call or text Colleen (403) 869-5385 or Steve (403) 669-5284
When the last runners are through, you will then be picked up by the bus. If within walking distance, you can also walk back to CF Chinook Center to check in at the Volunteer Tent. Return all vest and paddles to the Volunteer Tent.
Bring appropriate clothing for the weather, snacks and drinks.
