Plan International Canada (Domestic)

Plan International Canada is a member of a global organization dedicated to advancing children’s rights and equality for girls. Because I am a Girl is Plan International’s global movement that aims to transform power relations so that girls everywhere can learn, lead, decide and thrive. Today’s generation of girls face so many pressures and barriers that keep them from achieving their full potential. It’s time we open doors for them, right here at home.
 
 Our domestic programming works with young people in Canada to activate their global citizenship and unlock their leadership. We work to build their knowledge of the world around them, hone their leadership skills, and connect them with fellow passionate change-makers to amplify their impact. We deliver programs that provide personal and professional development, and mentorship opportunities with government stakeholders, civil society advocates, CEOs and other private sector leaders. We know that young people have valuable insights to offer that can shape our world for the better, so we also create opportunities to meet and influence Canadian and global decision makers to advance children’s rights and equality for girls.  
 
 We also engage youth by extending seats at major conferences around the world, so girls can create a local-to-global connection, can make their voices heard – putting words to action – and can carve space for mentorship in diverse fields, proving girls belong wherever they choose. This project invests in our nation’s girls to drive positive change – ensuring they not only have a strong platform to stand on, but they can also build it themselves.
