My Story…
In August 2022 I received exceptional care at Toronto General Hospital (part of University Health Network - UHN) when I participated in a Living Organ Transplant.
65% of my liver was transplanted to my friend, Brandon Gerson, in a procedure that saved his life. After 4 days recovering in hospital, and 5 weeks recovering at home, I was able to return to work. And within 10 weeks my liver was fully regenerated.
I'm raising money to support the lifesaving work that the UHN does as one of the largest organ transplant centers in North America.
Because of the comprehensive prescreening and exceptional level of care that UHN provides, 100% of living liver donors go on to live restriction-free 1 year after their transplant (I was restriction-free after just 12 weeks!), which gives donors like me the confidence to participate in these life saving procedures.
So many friends and family have already provided me herculean support in this journey, which I am so grateful for. Any donations here will go to support the Center for Living Organ Donation at UHN, which was created to improve access to living organ donation for people who need life-saving liver or kidney transplants and those who want to give.
