Race Day Details
- Where is the in-person race being held this year? The in-person 5K race will take place at the University of Kentucky on Sunday, 10/08, beginning and ending at Alumni Commons on Rose Street.
- To navigate here using your GPS type in, Hillary J Boone Center.
- We will have people and signage directing runners to check-in.
- Where can I park? You will be able to park on campus in any blue E Lot or in relevant street parking.

- What time should I get there? You should arrive at least 30 minutes before the race start time at 2pm. You will not want to miss watching the clinic kiddos start us off!
- Can I only run on the official race day, 10/08? You do not have to run on this day if you registered for the Virtual 5K! You can run your race up to a week before (10/1), but cannot run after 10/08, when the in-person marathon concludes.
- Is PPE required on race day? DanceBlue is an entity of the University of Kentucky, and so we will be following the university's current guidelines.
- How do I submit my time if I am a virtual runner? You can submit your time on the race's main website at any point between 10/1 and 10/08.
- More instructions on how to do that will be included in an email after you register.
- What happens if the race is cancelled due to weather? If we do need to cancel the event due to predicted weather, we will make that call no later than 8am on the morning of the event. If inclement weather appears without warning, we will cancel as soon as possible.

Race Registration
- When does online registration close? If you are running in-person or virtually, registration will stay open up until 11:59PM on 10/05.
- Do I have to fundraise and dance at the 24 hour marathon to do the 5K? No, but it's a great way to stay involved with DanceBlue!
- Can I register on race day? Unfortunately not. See above for more specifics.
- What do I get for my registration fee? Your registration fee includes a DanceBlue race bib, color powder, sunglasses, and a race t-shirt. T-shirts are guaranteed for all participants who register in advance of September 24th, so make sure to register before that deadline to guarantee yourself a race t-shirt!
- Is there a benefiting charity? Yes, all proceeds benefit DanceBlue.
- Can I get a refund of my registration fee? Sorry, registration fees go to the benefiting charity and are non-refundable. This includes cancellation/rescheduling due to weather.
Race Participation
- When can I get my race t-shirt and race number for the IN-PERSON 5K? Those pickup dates, times, and locations are listed on the race's home page! These will be the only times offered unless you email operations@danceblue.org to schedule a time outside of these.
- When can I get my race t-shirt and race number for the VIRTUAL 5K? If you are participating in the Virtual Race, you will not receive a race packet or tee shirt.
- What if I can't make it to pick up my packet, but want to get it early? We do allow race participants to pick up packets for one another! They will just need to provide us with your first and last name. It is your responsibility to communicate with the person picking up your packet for you to avoid any confusion.
- Can I walk the race? Yes! Your pace is up to you.
- Can I bring my dog? You can! We're bringing ours, too :) If you do bring your furry friend(s), know that you MUST:
- Keep them on a leash of 6 feet or less at all times
- Pick up after them EVERYWHERE on campus (even mid-race!)
- And bring your own water dish for them to use.
Race Timing and Results
- Will the race be timed? If running virtually, you will be responsible for timing yourself and reporting your time if you would like it to be officially recorded! You can report your virtual results on the "Results" tab found on the race event page. If you are running in-person, the event is timed for you.
- Can I see how my time compared to others? Yes, you will be able to review all self-reported times from other runners under the "Results" tab on the race event page.
