Join us on Sunday, April 30, 2023 for the 12th annual Bumrun!
Who are we?
Bumrun is a charity that raises awareness of colon cancer screening and prevention. For 12 years, we have organized 5K walk/run events and raised more than $935,000 net for various colon cancer charity organizations. Our funds go toward colon cancer research, enhancing patient support programs for families living with colon cancer, and raising awareness of colon cancer screening and prevention.
In addition to our listed charities, Bumrun has partnered with not-for-profit Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN), whose mission is to support, educate and advocate for colorectal cancer patients and their caregivers.
Canada has one of the highest colon cancer rates in the world, affecting 1 in 16 Canadians. But if everyone got screened, 90% of deaths could be prevented. So get ahead of your behind and join us this Bumrun!
Event details
If you are picking up for another participant, please bring an email confirmation from them.
If you would like to have one person from your team collect bibs for the entire team, please email gillian@bumrun.com by the end of the day on Wednesday, April 26 so that bibs can be organized in advance of kit pick up.
Race Day Times: Our team will be ready to receive you from 7:00 AM and onwards.
Race start times are as follows:
7:40 AM for the Little Bums 500M run
8:00 AM for the 5K run/walk
5K runners will be corralled along the street to the west of the start. We request walkers line up at the back and only fast runners (20 minutes or less) line up at the front, with the remainder of the runners falling in between. We will have volunteers helping out with this process.
Baggage Check: We will have baggage check for you to store your items during the race. Your bib will have a tear off bag tag for you to connect to your item, and you bib will be needed to retrieve your bags post-race. Please note that baggage check is open air.
Warm Up: Kris Sheppard of the The Runner's Academy will be leading our start line warm ups: 7:30 AM at the start line for the Little Bums and 7:50 AM at the start line for the Bumrun 5K.
Water Station: There will be a water station on Bloor St at Devonshire Rd (~2.5 KM).
Course Time Limit: All participants need to be clear of the course by 10:00 AM as the road closures will be ending. If there are participants still on course, they will be asked to move to the sidewalk for their safety.
First Aid: There will be a medic at the event site at Queen's Park, as well as medics on course on bikes.
Awards: We will start presenting the overall awards for the 5K at 8:40 AM at the Awards Tent.
Results: Live results will be available here.
Post-Race: Post-race refreshments will be provided for all participants and volunteers. The Runner's Academy will also be on-site in the blue tent offering complimentary post-race treatment for runners. We look forward to seeing you on race day!
