Canaqua Sports is proud to once again be partnering with Ottawa Riverkeeper as we host the 2023 Riverkeeper Open Water Swim.
The Riverkeeper Open Water Swim is a unique, inter-provincial swimming event in the Ottawa River. Uniting both provincial shores of our river, the swim highlights the need for collaboration towards swimmable, drinkable, fishable waters!
We invite anyone who is interested to come and join us on August 13 for what will be an amazing event.
Distances: 1.50 k, 4.0k
The Riverkeeper Open Water Swim is part of the Canaqua Sports Open Water Swim Series.

The Course:
The start for the 4K is at Lac Deschênes Sailing Club (Ontario) and the finish is at Parc des Cèdres (Québec).
The 1.5K event starts and finishes at Aylmer's Parc des Cèdres (Québec).
General Information
- Food will be provided. Please note that due to the current situation with Covid 19, food may be limited in keeping with the current Provincial requirements at the time of the event.
- Swim caps will be provided for each swimmer and MUST BE WORN for identification purposes during the race
- A number will be inked on the upper back/shoulder of each swimmer
- Swimmers should not undertake this swim unless they are physically fit and sufficiently trained to participate safely
- There will not be a "rain date" and a delay (or cancellation) will only occur in the event of lightning
Tom Anzai - In Memory we swim
Tom was the founder and Race Director of the annual Riverkeeper 4K swim. He had the vision to swim from one shore of the historic Ottawa River to the other. He swam it, and then invited all fellow swimmers to participate in what he called an epic charity event. His passion for the event was contagious. He didn't miss an opportunity to speak not only of the swim but also of the importance of a healthy Ottawa RIver. Tom Exemplifited dedication and community service
Canaqua Sports recognizes the importance not only of the Riverkeeper Open Water Swim but also its history and the dedication put forth by both Tom Anzai and Ottawa Riverkeeper. We are honored to be a part of this historic event.
