My Story…
Team Topham - The Neuro’s Stroke Unit
In September 2022, I received a call to say that my friend and colleague Hugh had suffered a stroke. Working at The Neuro, I hear of people I know needing our help from time to time, but learning that Hugh, a 43-year-old fitness fanatic and father of three young boys, was now a patient of ours was hard to comprehend.
Thanks to his treatment and the expert care of the clinicians at The Neuro, Hugh’s recovery has gone well and he recently returned to work.
Stroke can happen at any age and the incidence in younger people is increasing.
Annual stroke occurrence rates in Canada have increased to 108,707 – or roughly one every five minutes. *
The Neuro is the leading provider of excellent acute stroke care in our community and as such is deserving of our support. That is why I am running in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge to raise funds for The Neuro’s Stroke Unit.
Thanks to Hugh for being the honorary captain of Team Topham!
Thanks also to the amazing staff at The Neuro!
