My Story…
Dear Friends and Family,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt request. On this day (August 20) we celebrate the birthday of our late son, Jonathan. It’s a time to remember, honor, and cherish the precious moments we shared with him. I am writing to ask for your support in commemorating his life by contributing to a cause that is close to my heart - Thumbs Up.
Thumbs Up is an organization located close to our new home in Minnesota that embodies the spirit of embracing those who are struggling and eradicating the stigma surrounding mental health. Thumbs Up brings people together, fostering a community of support, understanding, and encouragement. Their message of “KEEP MOVING FORWARD” resonates deeply with me, as it captures the essence of the journey we all undertake in life.
Since moving to the Twin Cities, I have had the privilege of discovering Thumbs Up and the incredible event they organize - the Thumbs Up 5K and 10K. This event symbolizes unity, determination, and the power of collective effort to make a positive change. When I learned about this race, I was struck by the opportunity it offers to transform our grief into a force for good.
Linda and I will forever miss Jonathan, as our grief is a testament to the love we hold for him. But even amidst the pain, I believe we can channel our emotions into something positive.
That’s why I’ve decided to participate in this fundraiser by running in the 5K. I invite you to consider joining me in this endeavor by contributing to my goal of raising an audacious sum of $2000. Your contribution, regardless of the amount, will make a meaningful impact on the lives of those struggling with mental health challenges.
There’s absolutely no pressure - if this isn’t the right time for you to give, or if you have another cause that speaks to your heart, I completely understand.
Your presence in our lives has been a source of comfort and strength, and I am immensely grateful for your unwavering support. Your kindness helps us remember Jonathan in a way that uplifts others and encourages open conversations about mental health. Your compassion is a blessing that touches our lives deeply.
If you are able, I kindly ask you to consider making a donation. Together, we can turn our grief into a powerful force for change and hope.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message, for your enduring friendship, and for your care. May blessings continue to grace your life.
With gratitude,
Joe Payne
