Ladysmith Primary Elemental 5K Fun Run and Walk

The Elemental 5K Fun Run and Walk is presented by Ladysmith Primary School’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC).

WE'RE BACK!

This fundraiser is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Ladysmith Primary School (LPS). There are two parts to our Elemental Fun Run/Walk:

PART 1

Month of Movement Fundraising Drive

Takes place April 3 to May 6, 2023. Students and staff ask friends, family, colleagues, and neighbours to donate money virtually on Race Roster* (there will be no individual and team incentive prizes this year).

While this fundraising period is happening, LPS will be hosting a Month of Movement in the school. Each class will be provided with a calendar to complete their daily movement. PAC has created fun movement bins for classes to use daily.

PART 2

The Elemental 5K Fun Run and Walk

Takes place on Saturday, May 6, 2023. This event is open to all members of the community to participate. Registration is open April 3 to May 2, 2023 on Race Roster and the morning of the event.

FUNDRAISING:

Ask friends, family, colleagues, and neighbours to do one of two things, or both! LPS students and staff can ask their acquaintances to:

1) Donate money;

a) By credit card via our Race Roster DONATE NOW feature; or

b) By giving cash to the student or staff member (fundraisers can also solicit door-to-door). The student's parent/fundraiser then "submits" the cash donations via the Race Roster DONATE NOW feature using their credit card in one lump sum (this will save on processing fees). The parent then keeps the cash in lieu of the credit card donation.

2) Register for the 5K Fun Run or Walk on May 6, 2023; or

3) Donate money via Race Roster AND to register for the 5K Fun Run and Walk.

WHAT WE ARE FUNDRAISING FOR?

• Funds will go to a new STEAM learning centre in our LPS courtyard (see photo below of existing courtyard). STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
• Resources for classrooms, field trips, swimming lessons, and artist and author visits.
• Any remaining funds from this year's event will be put aside for the outdoor learning centre.

In 2021 our LPS community raised an impressive $41,000 during the Elemental Fun Run and Walk fundraiser! Within weeks of the fundraiser your PAC was able to purchase a portable sound system for the gym, light tables, and microscopes with smart USB rapid chargers. The rest of the funds were earmarked for our outdoor learning centre.

FUNDRAISING GOALS:

To raise $20,000!

PRIZES:

1) In celebration of completing the Month of Movement, DANCEPL3Y will be coming to our school for the entire school to participate in

2) Retro 90's style Sports Day

3) $100 to each classroom for the teacher to spend as they wish

5K FUN RUN AND WALK INFORMATION:

This year the Elemental 5K Fun Run and Walk is an in-person event.

Price for registration this year is $10 per adult and $5 per child (under 18 years). A $5 discount is applied to your child's registration at checkout.

We thank you in advance as we aim to make this an enjoyable and fun family event that ensures the health and safety of all Elemental Fun Run and Walk participants while raising money for Ladysmith Primary School.

START TIME

Register early via Race Roster between April 3, 2023 and May 2, 2023 or register as a drop in between 8:00 am and 8:45 am the day of the event on May 6, 2023.

Warm up will start at 8:45 am outside, on the Ladysmith Primary School's field.

9:00 am start time for the 5K Fun Run and Walk.

ROUTE

The 5K Fun Run and Walk will start on the grounds of Ladysmith Primary School, running through a portion of the Holland Creek Trail and on town streets. The run/walk will end with one lap of the running track behind Ladysmith Secondary School and a short run back to Ladysmith Primary school to the finish line.

There will be road/race marshals directing your way as well as ROAD RACE signs.

RUN DETAILS

This is an all ages event

Minor children must be accompanied by an adult on the race route at all times

Please no dogs or bikes

Strollers are welcome

All participants must be registered, no matter their age (for waiver purposes)

Washrooms are available
