💜 Ovarian Cancer: A Silent Battle 💜

Did you know that ovarian cancer is the 7th most common cancer among women in the US? Shockingly, about 1 in every 71 women will develop this devastating disease. What's even more alarming is that in the early stages, there are no symptoms, making it difficult to detect until it's often too late.

Twelve years ago, our family started walking in memory of our beloved grandmother, Naomi Sedgewick Williams. It was a beautiful way for us to spend time together and honor her legacy while doing something meaningful for women everywhere. Little did we know that someone from our own generation would be diagnosed with this relentless illness.

Tori, our brave warrior, was unexpectedly diagnosed with ovarian cancer after a tragic accident. She was t-boned by a tractor trailer, and while being treated for her internal injuries, doctors discovered a tumor on her ovary. It's strange to think that if that truck hadn't collided with Tori's brand new car, she may not have received her diagnosis early. Sometimes, life works in mysterious ways, doesn't it?

Now, two years into remission, we continue to walk for Tori, our incredible warrior, and in loving memory of our Mom Mom. Our purpose is clear - we walk to raise funds for research and development of screening options. We walk for every woman who has been diagnosed, every survivor who has fought with unwavering strength, and every woman who has battled this horrid disease with all her might.
