Embark on a 1,000 km journey from Canberra to Melbourne, exploring Australia’s stunning alpine region. The Hunt 1000 will lead you along backcountry trails, across high plains, through snow gum woodlands, and into towering native forests.
Riders are encouraged to aim for a grand finish in Melbourne on Saturday, November 30th, 2024. This isn’t a race but a self-paced, self-guided adventure, where you choose your own start date and set your pace.
Each year, the route is refreshed to create a unique adventure through Australia’s high country. As you navigate, you’ll discover remote campsites, explore historic alpine huts, and tackle challenges from hike-a-bikes and river crossings to smooth gravel and rutted fire trails on your way to Melbourne.
The route traverses some of the most beautiful parts of the high country, immersing you in Australia’s alpine wilderness. You’ll experience the raw beauty and unpredictable weather of the high country, making the journey as demanding as it is unforgettable.

Please note: Refunds will NOT be issued. However, riders may transfer their registration to another participant (fee to be negotiated between the parties) or to a future year.
