McMaster Children’s Hospital

McMaster Children’s Hospital is the second largest provider of inpatient pediatric services in Ontario. The Hospital is home to Canada’s largest neonatal intensive care unit including supportive maternal care, the largest pediatric mental health program in Ontario, and the only inpatient pediatric cancer program in south-central Ontario.

Cancer treatment in children can be a long process, often spanning 2 ½ to 3 years, with personalized treatment plans created by a team of specialists working with the families to provide the best possible outcome for each patient. Their clinical team includes oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, dieticians and child-life specialists who will support and care for these families each step of the way. Over 100 patients use the pediatric oncology clinic every week, with one third of these patients visiting the clinic more than once a week, and an average visit of 2-4 hours. With your support, we can provide the best care possible to the patients that utilize our pediatric oncology clinic.

Anyone registering for the 1KM event is asked to provide a minimum donation of $25 as part of the registration process.

Tax receipts will issued for donations of $20 or more. Receipts will be distributed by the charity after the race takes place.
