Help us raise money

This year is the 5th and final Edition of Team Mimi, running for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. We have participated in 2008, 2011, 2014 and 2017. We have raised over 75,000$ as a team.

With the new model introduced recently, I decided to register 2 teams for the North section to allow everyone to be together for this final Edition: Team Mimi Ottawa and Team Mimi Jasper. It is a very special one as all my family is participating. My husband Andrew will be running his 5th relay and my daughter Juliette will be running her 1st one, N8, along side her partner Richard. Jack, my son will be driving the van and taking care of the team.

We bring along 3 dedicated members who have participated in all the past years,  my husband Andrew from Ottawa and Patrice and Kea from Jasper. Multiple enthusiastic returning runners and many excited rookies will hit the pavement on the Icefield parkway on June 8 completing 2 x 155km relay.

Even though I was diagnosed in 2006 nearly 20 years ago, it is not something you can forget. The roller coaster we embarked on when I was misdiagnosed and given 12 months to live as a young couple with 2 kids under 4 years old... it is a tough one to brush off.

The battle I fought going through 2 awake, 7 hour long craniotomies, on March 2007 and April 2009. The second one followed by 8 weeks of radiation and 14 months of chemotherapy is not one period easily forgotten. In all this madness, I drew the lucky straw and lived to tell the tale.

I was eager to give back after my first surgery and signed up the first instance of Team Mimi in June of 2008. It is almost 16 years later and we are going back in full force!

I cannot close without a special mention to Dr. Sinclair, my amazing surgeon to whom I owe my life and the team at the General Hospital who have been part of my journey to regain my health.
