Help us raise money

For participating in The 2024 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

Our story…

The Ryan Richards Foundation was created to honor my husband, Ryan Richards, who died at age 40 from NUT Midline Carcinoma in October, 2015. As Ryan put it, “I ran every road race as fast as I could, because if I paced myself, I wouldn’t be able to make up the time later in the race." With no surprise, he lived his life the same way. In an effort to harness his positive energy and to keep his memory alive, we created The Foundation.

What we learned with Ryan’s situation is that until you go through something in life, it’s hard to understand it. Unfortunately, we now understand how difficult it is to see someone you love suffering with a life-threatening illness, both physically and emotionally. We experienced the desperate need for medical advancements and the lack of mental health resources. The Foundation’s goal is to make a difference. The Ryan Richards Foundation Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization formed by Ryan’s closest family and friends in an effort to give back to the community he loved.

First and foremost, we want to help families suffering with cancer.  Our donations represent a small tap on the shoulder to let t hem know we understand what they are going through and thatthey are not alone.  To date we have helped numerous families affected by cancer.

On a larger scale, the Ryan Richards Foundation is helping fund medical advancements with a total odonation of over $135,000 to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, specifically for NUT Midline Carcinoma clinical trials.  These funds help finance targeted therapy methods for these cancers and most recently funded the first ever global conference on NUT Carcinoma and treatment options.

The fundation has endowed two scholarships annually in Ryan's memory to local Falmouth High School seniors attending a four-year college.

The fundraising efforst for the foundation represent Ryan and all that he loved.  He was a great husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, and best friend to many.

We will see you in the heights on August 18th!
