MORE DETAILS:
There are POINTS to be earned.
WHAT COUNTS?
Ride the official routes, entirely; OR
Modify the official routes following the 2/3s Rule.
2/3s RULE
(For indefatigable riders doing the challenge multiple times!!!!)
To be counted as a completion, you need to show that you rode the entire mileage claimed (eg. 100 miles to claim an Imperial Centurion) - of which a minimum of 2/3s (108k / 67 mi.) of the distance must be on one of the designated loops. The three designated routes can also be combined to calculate the 2/3s rule. This unique freedom to stray from the designated routes enables riders the opportunity to keep things interesting and/or personalize their ride to favour their terrain preference (such as making it completely paved or gravel).
THE REMAINING 1/3 is left up to a participant's discretion: provided however, they are within the confines of Windsor / Essex County or Chatham-Kent. We hope participants doing the challenge multiple times will use the 2/3s Rule to seek out other comfortable cycling facility / trail choices - as enjoyment & comfort is the "EC Way". We gain a lot of intel from the extended explorations of wide ranging EC participants.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that the intention of these options is not to enable challengers to go all over the place randomly as if there aren't any designated routes or purpose to them.
No double counting the same parts of the loop when determining 2/3s of the distance.
DO THE EVENT AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT!
Can't do it within the suggested timeframe? No worries. The EC Way 100 and and other qualifying loops are open-sourced bike routes that can be found in the public domain and tackled at anytime of the year.
CAUTION: This is solely a personal challenge. This is not a formally organized, supported or sanctioned event in any way. It is simply a plotted route with a suggested timeframe - for those who wish to be recognized for completing the challenge. The route is also open to the public to ride at any other time of year. Roadway conditions are ever changing. Participants are self-supported and bear full responsibility for their own safety. Ride at your own risk. Detouring certain sections may be required without knowing in advance.
