Meet Elise our Epilepsy Warrior!
Elise was diagnosed with Epilepsy in Jan 2013. We also received a diagnosis that Elise has a rare neuroligical disorder, Subcortical Band Heterotopia. This causes developmental and intellectual delays, as well as unmanageable Epilepsy. Elise has had some challenging battles with seizures. She was known as a frequent flyer at the hospital. In May 2019 she had a 2/3 corpus callosotomy. Then in March 2022 she had a the Vagnus Nerve Stimulator surgery. And in March 2024, Elise had a deep brain stimulation surgery. The DBS has been turned on since May 22, 2024 and we are finally getting our girl back and noticing decrease in seizure acitivites. We look forward to family and friends joining us near and far for this year's seize the day walk/run as we celebrate Elise's victories.
