My Story…
On Thursday, Sept. 5, I will swim 1.5 km across Halifax Harbour a fifth time for the United Way. With generous support from donors, my swims have raised $3,946 to date. For 2024, I've set my fund-raising goal at $1,054 so that I can - hopefully - hit the $5,000 overall mark with my latest swim: Five for $5,000.
I learned to swim at "the Merb" on the Northumberland Strait, later taught swimming there, and worked as a lifeguard at Queensland Beach on the South Shore. I am fortunate to still be swimming Nova Scotia's waters years later and happy I can combine one of my favorite activities with this annual United Way event.
Here are some photos from previous harbour swims.
