2024 DogRunnin Dryland Challenge

The DogRunnin Dryland Challenge is BACK with a new course in beautiful Fredericton, NB!

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Where: Killarney Lake Park in Fredericton, NB
When: TWO DAY EVENT, Saturday & Sunday, November 9 & 10, 2024
Parking: Dedicated parking lot at main entrance - please note the parking lot is paved (we recommend bringing straw / mats / etc for dogs)
Race Start Area: There is a grassy field between the race start and finish chute. The Race Official, Registration and timing stations will all be located in this spot.

REGISTRATION: The deadline to register is Wednesday, November 6th at midnight. There will be NO race day registration.

ACCOMODATIONS: At present, we do NOT have permission for on-site camping. Should this change, we will update in the Facebook event ASAP. Other accommodation options can be found here.

SCHEDULE & CLASSES BEING OFFERED: The tentative class schedule can be found here. The schedule is subject to modification should temperatures or trail conditions require.

AWARDS: The list of awards, including IFSS accreditations can be found here.

RACE MEETINGS: There will be no in-person race briefings. All important information such as start lists, course routes, etc. will be conveyed in advance via the Facebook Event or Race Roster. Start lists and course maps will be posted on site. Trail condition updates will be posted in the Facebook event the morning of the event (both Saturday and Sunday).

ACCREDITATION: RULES, REGULATIONS & INSURANCE

SPRINT DISTANCE CLASSES, RELAY CLASSES & STANDARD 2-DOG BIKEJOR CLASS: These classes do not form part of the IFSS World Cup accredited classes and as such the MAHDS Rules for Participants will be applied to all sprint, 2-dog bike and relay classes.

STANDARD DISTANCE CANICROSS, 1-DOG BIKEJOR, 1-DOG SCOOTER, & 2-DOG SCOOTER CLASSES: These classes form part of the IFSS World Cup Circuit as well as the MAHDS Regional Circuit. The IFSS Race Rules will be applied for all IFSS accredited classes.

INSURANCE: This event is sanctioned and insured under the Maritime Association of Harness Dog Sports ("MAHDS").

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR ATHLETES: The MAHDS Code of Conduct must be adhered to by all athletes. NOTE: this is IN ADDITION to all requirements under IFSS Rules.

TEMPERATURE: We will be applying MAHDS Temperature Guidelines for this event. These guidelines lay out exactly what you can expect in terms of the Event Organizer's response to temperature changes.

JUNIORS: All youth under 12 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult chaperone capable 7of keeping pace. All juniors under 18 years of age may race with or without a chaperone as desired. We ask that all youth and junior registrants contact us at info@dogrunnin.com prior to the close of registration to advise of their child's race plan, so we can ensure officials are aware and appropriate safety measures are in place.

Standard Distance Course Description:
This route is wide with lots of room for passing from behind. There will be no head-on passing. Passing will be tight for rigs in certain sections of the trail and as such there will be a minimum 2 minute time delay between each team. The trail is very obvious and the race course will be well marked. This route is challenging and includes some climbing. The terrain is a mix of everything: fine crusher dust, gravel, grass and dirt. There are no obstacles on this route.

Sprint Distance Course Description:
This route is wide and flat with lots of room for passing from behind. There will be no head-on passing. The trail is very obvious and the race course will be well marked. The terrain is a mix of crusher dust and dirt. There are no obstacles on this route.
