30 Days X 30 Minutes of Physical Activity

THE CHALLENGE
A 30-day, virtually-guided physical activity challenge, in the month of November, open to individuals of all ages, anywhere!
NAMED IN HONOUR OF
Lieutenant Commander (Retired) John W. Loaring - Canadian Track & Field 1936 Olympic Games Silver Medallist and WWII Veteran, Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve.
YOUR MISSION
Develop healthy and consistent physical activity lifestyle habits by exercising a minimum of 30 minutes per day for 30 consecutive days. Work individually, or in teams of two or more!
EARN YOUR RANK
Earn your rank / appointment based on the number of days of exercise achieved, and the acquisition of up to "5" bonus points. Results will be posted publicly. Individuals and teams with the highest rankings will receive special recognition!
COMMANDER (30/30 Days x 60 min per day + 3 or more Bonus Points) *NEW*
COLONEL (30/30 Days x 30 min per day + 2 Bonus Points)
LIEUTENANT COLONEL (30/30 Days x 30 min per day + 1 Bonus Point)
MAJOR (30/30 Days x 30 min per day)
CAPTAIN (29/30 Days x 30 min per day)
LIEUTENANT (28/30 Days x 30 min per day)
2ND LIEUTENANT (27/30 Days x 30 min per day)
OFFICER CADET (26/30 Days x 30 min per day)
BONUS POINTS (FIVE AVAILABLE)
RUCK ON : Ruck with your choice added weight (e.g., water bottle, weighted pack) carried anywhere on your body while you hike / walk / wheel / bike / elliptical / water walk a minimum of 30 minutes. This may be completed at any point in the challenge, and is worth 1 bonus point.
HONOUR A SOLDIER : Donate minimum $10.00 to our charity, "Soldier On", in honour of a soldier, past or present. Don’t know a soldier? Consider choosing one from the history books or your local community. Send the name and photo (if available) of the soldier you are honouring to charlotte@loaringphysio.com. This may be completed at any point in the challenge, and is worth 1 bonus point.
COMMANDER'S CLUB *NEW* : Looking for a greater challenge? Earn your way to the appointment of Commander by exercising a minimum of 60 minutes per day x 30 days, and receive a commemorative "Commander's Coin" and personalized note from Commander Chris Brown, 31 Canadian Brigade Group, 4th Canadian Division, Canadian Army. This achievement is worth 3 bonus points.
EXERCISE TRACKING
Participants must keep track of their activity. Sample exercise tracking sheets are available here (or use a tracking method of your choice). Keep this info handy. At the end of the Challenge, a brief email survey must be completed by all participants and will be used for tabulating results.
ACTIVITIES THAT COUNT
Walking, hiking, rucking, running, cycling, swimming, pickleball, pilates, yoga, weights, resistance exercise, team sports, yard work, physiotherapy exercises, etc. Provided it is dedicated physical activity, it counts! (Note: Exercise need not be continuous, but must be completed within the 24-hour day.)
Sick or injured? Try walking, yoga, gentle stretching, or physiotherapy exercises.
MISSED DAYS
Miss a day? We suggest a $5.00 donation per day missed to be paid at the end of the challenge. (E.g., miss 3 days = $15.00 donation). 100% of donations go to our charity "Solder On". Tax receipts will be issued for donations $10.00 or greater.
OUR CAUSE
100% of proceeds support "Soldier On" - a national program that aims to improve the quality of life for ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members and veterans through sport, recreational and creative activities and opportunities. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $10.00 or more.
DAILY MOTIVATION
Participants will receive daily motivational email messages at 05:00hrs from a series of guests on topics that range from health & fitness, inspirational personal stories, and military / life core values.
CHALLENGE COMPLETION
At the end of the challenge, all participants must complete the brief email survey by December 2, 2024.
SWAG
Participants will receive their choice of Challenge swag! Help us donate more to "Soldier On" by picking-up your swag after Challenge completion at one of the following locations:
• Loaring Physiotherapy & Health Centre (13126 Tecumseh Rd E, Tecumseh ON N8N 3T6)
• Loaring Personal Coaching (298 Colonial Dr. Guelph, ON N9L 0G4)
• 31 CBG Canadian Armed Forces Locations (arranged with your unit)
Note: For those unable to pick-up swag in person, we will ship at no charge within CAN/USA.
