5K Race & Walk for Research
Solomons Island, Maryland
OUR CAUSE
Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little-known and poorly understood cause of a heart attack. Most patients are young, healthy and active women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease. Although less common, it can affect men too. SCAD can recur and can be fatal. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.
SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women & new moms.
SCADaddle
Join us for our 2nd annual Solomons Island SCADaddle to raise money for much-needed SCAD research. Our run/walk takes place in Solomons, Maryland, a family-friendly site. The course will be a 3.1-mile loop on the island with beautiful views of the Patuxent River and the TJ Bridge. We encourage participants to do the walk/run at their own pace. Solomons Island is a short drive from Baltimore, Annapolis, and Washington, D.C.

- RACE DETAILS
Chip Timing: We use a disposable chip timing tag that participants receive at packet pick-up on their race bibs. It is lightweight and remains attached to the race bib. Runners/walkers must wear their race bibs on the front of their clothing to be timed accurately. Please do not layer over the bib.
Runners/walkers MUST wear their race bibs on the front of their clothing to be timed accurately. The bib cannot be covered; holding it or putting it in your pocket will NOT read the chip. Please don't bend the chip. Smart watches like Garmin and smartphones can interfere with the timing chip frequency. Please do not adjust your watch or phone as you cross the finish line and come through the chute. Disputes over time on smartwatches and smartphones will not be considered.Awards: All runners and walkers will be timed. Awards will be given to the overall winner, male and female. Medals/recognition will be given to 2nd and 3rd place males/females overall and to the top three males/females for age groups: 11 and under 12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
