My Story…
It started like any other day.
My girlfriend Kathy —strong, vibrant, and full of life—had been feeling off. We never expected that what she was experiencing was something so rare and dangerous: a spontaneous coronary artery dissection, or SCAD. She was young, healthy, and didn’t fit the profile of someone who’d be at risk for a heart attack. But SCAD doesn’t follow rules.
That day changed everything.
The pain, the fear —we were suddenly thrust into a world of uncertainty. I watched my friend fight through something I didn’t even know existed before this happened. And through it all, she showed more courage than I thought was humanly possible.
SCAD is under-researched and often misdiagnosed. Many people—especially women—suffer through it without knowing what’s happening, and far too many doctors aren’t trained to spot it early. That’s why we’re doing something about it.
We’re hosting a SCAD Awareness and Fundraising Event—to share her story, to bring others together, and to help fund research that could save lives.
This isn’t just a medical cause to us—it’s personal. It’s about honoring her journey and making sure others don’t have to face SCAD without answers, without support, or without hope.
We’d love for you to be part of this with us. Whether you join the event, donate, or just help spread the word—every bit of support brings us closer to better understanding, better treatment, and better outcomes for people facing SCAD.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring.
