Join us for the Run-Walk-Dash 5K to support Ronald McDonald House Charities - South Western Ontario! This amazing in-person 5K event has been a community favorite for eight fantastic years, and it just keeps getting bigger and better!
Bring your families and loved ones along because the more, the merrier! Team participation is highly encouraged, just like how the Ronald McDonald House fosters togetherness.
We can’t wait to see our community unite to support a cause that’s close to our hearts. From Tilbury to LaSalle and Leamington to Windsor, participants and sponsors from all corners of the county will gather at the Atlas Tube Center to raise funds for RMHC Windsor. So, let’s make the most of this spring—get moving, have a blast, set new goals, and most importantly, make a real difference together! Let the fun begin!

A Look Back at Our Journey:
In 2017, Julie Dennis, co-founder of the Big Red Shoe Run, had a vision: to create a 5k walk that would energize our community in support of McHappy Day fundraising efforts. Teaming up with Melissa Eagen, they set out on an ambitious mission to raise crucial funds for Ronald McDonald House Windsor.
Thanks to our remarkable partners—McDonald's owner/operators and the dedicated management team at RMHC Windsor—we've forged strong community relationships and attracted loyal sponsors who have been with us from the start. Valiant TMS, Prime Electrical, and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners Local 494 exemplify the power of community support, standing by us year after year.
What many may not realize is that the Big Red Shoe Run is the official launch of the McHappy Day campaign. Held on the last Sunday in April, this event empowers our RMH supporters to come together in anticipation of McHappy Day! This year, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, we're determined to break regional fundraising records for Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Big Red Shoe Run kicks off this vital campaign—rain or shine (and yes, likely more rain)—igniting the spirit of McHappy Day!
We've always believed that "Windsor takes care of Windsor," and you have all shown us how true that is! As we celebrate the eighth year of the Big Red Shoe Run, we invite returning friends and new participants of all ages—RMHC families, McDonald's families, and everyone in between—to join us in making an impact in our community! Let's come together to continue this incredible journey of support and change!

As our founding partner, McDonald’s plays a vital role in ensuring that families with sick or injured children have a home away from home during difficult times. This annual event brings together runners, volunteers, and supporters from all walks of life, coming together with a shared purpose: to keep families close when it matters most. The funds raised help provide essential services like a comfortable place to stay, warm meals, and a supportive environment, easing the burden on parents so they can focus on their child’s care. Every step taken in the Big Red Shoe Run is a step toward comfort, hope, and healing for the families we serve.
