![]() | Noah's 1RUN I run for those who can’t and for those who never got the chance. I run in memory of Bill Morine, my grandfather, and Wyatt Davies, my childhood friend and a runner himself. I run for Grayson, one of my closest friends at university, who’s been in the fight of his life. ONE RUN was born from the heartbreaking news of his diagnoses, a way for us to rally behind him and everyone else touched by cancer. When I run, I think about these people, the way they impacted my life and the stories we shared.
![]() | Sam's 1RUN My partners younger sister, Ava MacNeil was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma earlier this year. Seeing her fight this cancer firsthand on a daily basis, and the amazing treatment that she is receiving at the IWK, Ronald McDonald House and QE2 here in Halifax, truly inspired me to get involved with this organization. Not only to bring awareness to her condition, but to support the healthcare system that is providing her with such amazing care. I love you Ava.
| Louis' 1RUN 1 RUN has obviously been very important for me to support my good friend Grayson who has been an amazing person and support since I got to Dalhousie. Also, my grandfather passed away of lung cancer in 2021, and I have been giving 100% in everything I do since then because of him, and the large impact he had on my life. | ||
| Annik's 1RUN I chose to become part of the 1RUN team because, like so many others, I’ve seen the impact cancer can have on the people we love. When I was 13, my father was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. Just five weeks later, he lost his battle. Then in 2022, my best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. After a year of intense treatment, and thanks to the strength of community, access to care, and unwavering support, she made a full recovery. I’m forever grateful to those who dedicate themselves to easing the journey for patients and families - those who fight for comfort, dignity, and healing in the face of something so devastating. I’m proud to play even a small role in supporting that mission through 1RUN. |
![]() | Olivia's 1RUN Her name was Jody. She was my best friend’s mom growing up — but to me, she felt like so much more than that. She was warmth in human form — a soft place to land, a steady hand in the middle of life’s chaos. The kind of person who made you feel seen without needing to say a word. Being around her felt easy. Full of laughter, comfort, and belonging. She never treated me like just a friend of the family — she made me feel like I was part of it. Jody was love, in its purest form. Always smiling. Always giving. Always showing up — not just for her family, but for all of us. She was the heart of so many memories, a light that quietly held our small-town community together. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer, we were still young. Too young to understand the weight of it — how long and difficult the road ahead would be. But Jody carried it all with quiet strength and unwavering grace. She fought for years. Held on with everything she had. And through it all, she never stopped being herself — kind, selfless, steady. When she passed, it left a space nothing could fill. And yet… she’s still everywhere. In the way my best friend loves others. In the way I try to show up for people. In the reason I care so deeply about this cause. I run — because no best friend should have to experience that kind of loss. Because cancer took someone who meant the world to us. And because love like Jody’s doesn’t fade. It stays. It moves through people. It fuels everything I do. This is for Jody. For my best friend. And for the kind of love that never lets go. |
![]() | Josh's 1RUN I chose to get involved with the OneRun Fundraiser because cancer has personally touched my life - through close friends, teammates and my grandfather, who passed away when I was young. But it became even more real during the time I spent at the children’s hospital visiting my best friend, who lost his battle with cystic fibrosis. I remember being surrounded by young kids, each facing their own battles—many of them with cancer. It left a lasting impact. No child should spend their days in a hospital bed. They deserve to be outside, playing, growing, and just being kids. I'm proud to be involved to raise awareness, support research, and help push for a future where that’s the reality. |
