What is a Virtual Run?
This is a Run/Walk that can be held anywhere in New Zealand or in the World at anytime and at any pace.
Is there a winner?
The winner is you for completing the event. We will record your time in the Results tab so you can see how you’re going against other Run NZ Run competitors.
What is the price of a Run with Run NZ Run?
It is FREE.
Can I enter more than one Run at once?
Yes, enter your first run that at the bottom check 'Add Another Registrant", choose your next run and pick that it is for yourself. Your details are all there so no need to add them again. You can keep doing this as many times as you like. You could add someone else instead of yourself of course.
When do the Runs start?
All Run NZ Runs from start when you register. The Specific Runs will have a date or weekend for them to be run. You can run or walk the 5km either side of the dates indicated, the dates are for when we want the majority of the results in.
Is there a time limit on Run the South, Run the North and Run NZ?
No. You have as much time as you like to run any of our Run NZ Run runs.
I've been running for a while and been recording my km's. Can I use these km's to go towards the distance I've signed up for?
No - it is the km's you've recorded from when you entered. You can't back date any km's

Can my kms count to several Runs?
Your kms only count for one of the runs. Run 90 Mile Beach kms (for example) also count to Run the North and Run New Zealand. You cannot count them for 90 Mile Beach and Run Stewart Island.
What about results for the Specific Runs like the Spring 5km and Father's Day 5km?
You can upload your time and proof of the event online by clicking the Link on the home page or click here. These runs can count toward your other Run NZ Run runs.
Can my whole Family join participate?
Yes, young, old, fast or slow.
How old do you have to be to do a run?
Any age, some parents have registered their children and have them in their prams when running and walking.
Can we do it as a Team?
Yes; the Main Events can be done as a Team. Just register as a Team when you register with all the Team members detail. Specific Events like the Spring 5km are Individual runs.
What if I can’t Run an Event - can I Walk it?
Yes, you can walk the event, there is no problem with this. Just register, record your time and send it in. We want all of New Zealand to be active and looking after their Hearts.
I use a step counter every day and don't run. Can I use the distance on this?
Yes; you can. We want everyone to be active. You can also complete the distance on a treadmill .
Are there medals?
Yes, there are medals These you can purchase when you enter. Once you've registered your time for your event or completed the distance of your event, we'll send your medal and/or t-shirt in the post. The main event medals (eg Run New Zealand) will be sent as soon as your tracker is loaded and spreadsheet emailed in, the special event medals (eg Spring 5km) will be 20-25 working days after the event. They will be sent the day we receive them. The I Survived 2020 and Happy Birthday medals will be sent straight out to you.
Are there t-shirts for the event?
Yes. Like the medals, you can purchase these when you enter. You can purchase these seperately or both together (combo) at a discounted price. Your t-shirt will be sent when you have completed your distance. If you want it sent when you order it, please pay the $5 postage. This way it will be sent straight to you.
Can I purchase a Medal and/or T-shirt later?
Yes, you can although it is easier for us with ordering stock to know at the time you register. You can purchase t-shirts and medals by clicking the Shop TAB anythime.
Can I get a refund on my T-shirt or/and medal?
No, there are no refunds on any of the merchandise purchased.
When will I get my medal after the event?
Good question. Once registrations close for Specific Runs, we will finalse the medal order. They take up to 20-25 working days to arrive. With Covid-19 there have been a number of delays and we will work through all this. But rest assured, you will get your medals and t-shirts. Please be patient with the delivery of your medals. The courier/postal service worldwide is under significant strain with the pandemic and some items may take a little longer than usual for delivery due to this. Many thanks.
We will inform everyone via facebook and email when the medals are being posted.
How do I get my Race Bib?
With your confirmation email on registration, a link to a Bib will be attached with this. Print it off and write your Number and Name on it.
Do I have to wear my Race Bib when doing my event?
No, but it would be great to see some photos of you wearing it.
Can I donate to the Heart Foundation separately?
Yes; when entering you can donate to the Heart Foundation. We will look to have a specific fundraising event during the year as well.
Do we get a receipt for our donation?
Yes; The Heart Foundation NZ will forward you a receipt for your donation.
Can I share my run on Social Media?
Yes. Share it, selfies, show whoever you want, have your Bib T-Shirt and Medal on, tell the World how awesome you are for completing your run.
What do you do with the images of confirmation?
We will be setting up a gallery of people doing their runs and finishing them, so please smile, and have your best face on.
I don’t live in New Zealand can I enter?
Anyone anywhere in the World can enter and participate. The medals may take a bit longer and will have additional postage on for the medals for international competitors - "we will be in touch with those competitors".
Can runs get sold out?
Some events may be limited for various reasons, so they could sell out.
Is the Facebook page a private group?
No. The Facebook page is for everyone to enjoy, please keep everything positive. Remember this is for a great charity.
Can Specific Runs be counted towards Run the South and Run the North?
Yes. Accumulate any distance that you run or walk and send the total distance you've done through for your medal to be sent out. E.g. If you do the Spring 5km, that counts towards your 922km of Run the South. Run Lake Taupo will count towards Run the North.
Can I run an actual race and use that for my Run NZ Run?
Yes you can. For example you could do the Rotorua Marathon or Christchurch Marathon and count that towards Run Lake Rotorua. This way you get the Rotorua or Christchurch Marathon Medal and Run NZ Run Medal. Or you could do the South Island Ultra Marathon on the West Coast Wilderness Trail and use that 54km or 100km towards the Run the West Coast Wilderness Trail.
Are there spot prizes?
At this stage there are no spot prizes unless we have a Major Sponsor come on board. hard to fund with FREE Entry.
