Raise money for 412 Food Rescue
412 Food Rescue’s mission is to prevent perfectly good food from entering the waste stream by redirecting it to households in poverty and nonprofit organizations serving those who are experiencing food insecurity.
Founded in 2015 in direct response to the disconnect between the fact that in the US, nearly 40% of all food produced is wasted while 1 in 8 people experience food insecurity. Food waste is also one of the leading causes of greenhouse gas emissions and is the single largest component in our landfills.
GOOD FOOD BELONGS TO PEOPLE, NOT LANDFILLS.
To date, our amazing fleet of 22,000+ volunteer Food Rescue Hero drivers has diverted more than 30 million pounds of food bound for the waste stream in Western Pennsylvania, the equivalent of 25.5 million meals, mitigating 54.5 million pounds of CO2 emissions in the process.
The 412 Food Rescue app makes claiming food rescues easy and convenient, guiding each volunteer every step of the way from pick up to delivery.
412 Food Rescue is a (501)(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization that depends on support from individuals to deliver our mission to end food waste and feed those who are hungry. We are thankful for The Pittsburgh Marathon Run For A Reason Program and all of our participating #MarathonHeroes!
