This May, I will continue my committment to the Miracle League of the South Hills by running the marathon as a charity runner for the 6th year. Last year, I had the incredible honor of running with Olivia's previous baseball teammate, Destiny, on her first leg of her first marathon! This year, I am ready to race with Titus, another amazing MLSH athlete and previous teammate of Olivia! Knowing that I am supporting such an amazing community of athletes and their families helps me through the challenging days of training. Running through rain, snow, ice, cold and darkness, I remind myself of the daily challenges that the athletes and their families face, including my own daughter and our family. Yet, the smiles, the warmth and the sunshine on game days at the Miracle League remind me that the rainbows require the rain and that even if we can't always see it, the sun is always there. The Miracle League of the South Hills is an organization worth supporting and visiting. There are two incredible opportunities to support both Casey’s Clubhouse/Miracle League of the South Hills and Always B Smiling, each working toward empowering athletes like Destiny to achieve their dreams. Meet Destiny—a young athlete with a radiant smile and a zest for life. Born with special needs, she longed to cross the finish line of a marathon herself, a goal that once seemed impossible.
Casey’s Clubhouse/Miracle League of the South Hills Fundraiser
This year, Casey’s Clubhouse invites athletes and supporters of all levels to participate in various race events: the full marathon, half marathon, relay, 5K, Kid's Walk, Toddler Trot, and Pet Race. By running and raising funds for Casey’s Clubhouse/Miracle League of the Sout Hills, participants directly support athletes with special needs, helping provide accessible sports opportunities and inclusive community engagement.
Always B Smiling Partnership Fundraiser
In a special collaboration, Casey's Clubhouse/Miracle League of the South Hills AND Always B Smiling are raising funds to expand its adaptive stroller marathon program, which allows athletes like Destiny to experience the thrill of crossing the finish line. By running or supporting this program, donors help make marathons accessible for athletes who would otherwise watch from the sidelines.
The adaptive stroller relay teams are working together to raise funds for both amazing south hills programs. Last year, 6 athletes like Destiny took on the full marathon in their adaptive strollers, each feeling the power of community and inclusion.
This year, Destiny returns with her relay team, her heart set on another finish line. By supporting either Casey’s Clubhouse/Miracle League of the South Hills, Always B Smiling, or both, you’re joining a powerful community dedicated to making dreams possible.
